About Diane & Serene One

Listening.
Reflection.
Community Connection.

Diane smiling in a pink jacket

Born in Brent, I bring longstanding community experience and a commitment to intergenerational connection. My work spans events, guided walks, music, arts, history and heritage, health and wellbeing, education and environmental awareness. I work with people of different ages and backgrounds, alongside community groups, organisations and individuals, in Brent and beyond.

Through Serene One, I help individuals communicate their needs and find relevant services, and work with groups and organisations to develop events, share information and connect communities. Some services can be offered virtually. In-person arrangements in London or further afield are discussed individually, taking account of distance, availability and the service requested.

My approach combines listening and mutual respect with conversation, music, the arts and shared heritage. My late mother lived with vascular dementia, making dementia awareness and the experiences of carers especially close to my heart. My experience also includes victim support work; I bring that experience to listening and signposting within clear boundaries.

Communicating · Connecting · Creating

My mission is to transform lives through meaningful connections for sustainability.

You Are Unique. You Matter.

The Services

How I Can Help

My work draws on experience in events, heritage and community connections. These services give a sense of what I offer; you are also welcome to enquire about other ideas.

Each enquiry is considered individually. Any work is subject to suitability, availability and mutual agreement. An enquiry does not guarantee that I can accept the work or that a booking will be offered.

All Services

Each agreed service is tailored to the person, group or organisation, taking account of their aims and circumstances. Serene One’s professional services are paid. Fees reflect the scope and requirements of the agreed work. Before work begins, the scope, fee, arrangements, payment terms and any initial deposit are set out in a written agreement that both parties must accept. Some services are available virtually; travel requirements are discussed as part of the agreement.

01 / INDIVIDUAL ADVOCACY

Advocacy & Signposting

My work draws on management experience in the Civil Service, alongside lived experience and extensive community involvement.

I offer practical one-to-one guidance to help you prepare questions, understand correspondence and consider how to communicate with services. Together, we can explore options for raising an enquiry or following up a response, with you choosing your next steps.

Where appropriate, I can signpost you to relevant organisations for matters such as housing, cost-of-living pressures, food assistance, caring responsibilities, bereavement, debt, relationships or help for victims of crime. Signposting is tailored to your circumstances and is not limited to these examples.

This service does not provide counselling, therapy or specialist professional advice.

Intergenerational Connection · Wellbeing · Participation

Bringing Generations Together.

My work includes activities for different age groups and gatherings that connect generations. Walks, events and community projects can be shaped around the people taking part. Music, the arts, speaking and shared heritage offer ways to participate, exchange experiences and build community relationships.

Virtual Exercise During Lockdown

During lockdown, I helped the Jason Roberts Foundation put together virtual exercise activities for older people. This work offered a way to participate in activity and maintain community connection when gathering in person was restricted.

Older People, Carers & Dementia Awareness

Having cared for my late mother, who lived with vascular dementia, I understand why opportunities for connection and relevant information matter to people living with dementia and their carers.

In November 2023, I helped promote dementia-friendly activities at the Jason Roberts Foundation. My email to community contacts announced weekly activities beginning on 15 November 2023, including information for carers and others interested in dementia awareness.

These activities for older people and carers are one strand of my wider work across generations. They draw on lived experience and community connection. The audience for each walk, event or project is agreed individually.

John Richards was a friend of my late father, Arthur Shrouder. Our connection makes his story part of my own family’s memories, as well as our shared history. When John departed Mother Earth in March 2025, I helped organise his funeral. It was a privilege to play a part in honouring his life.

Born in Jamaica, John arrived at Tilbury aboard the Empire Windrush on 22 June 1948. After staying at the Clapham South Deep Shelter, he built a life in Britain, working for British Railways for four decades. A keen cricketer and a founding member of the Learie Constantine West Indian Association, he contributed to community life and challenged racial injustice.

On 22 June 2022, John and fellow Windrush pioneer Alford Gardner unveiled the National Windrush Monument at London Waterloo Station. Created by Jamaican sculptor Basil Watson, it honours the Windrush generation and their lasting contribution to Britain.

“It was £28 well spent.”
— John Richards, reflecting on his passage to Britain, in an interview with Angela Cobbinah, 2022.

I attended the planting of Harlesden’s Reggae Tree on 1 July 2018, shortly after my husband passed away that May. Although reggae was already part of my cultural knowledge and connection, that day introduced me to International Reggae Day.

I was appointed Reggae Tree Ambassador for Harlesden in 2021. Over the years, community performances, talks and shared gatherings have connected music and heritage with people’s stories. The tree also keeps the environmental message visible: caring for trees, encouraging planting and thinking about the legacy we leave.

On 1 July 2026, we marked eight years of the tree and 32 years of International Reggae Day.

Working Across Communities.

My experience includes working with Brent Council, grassroots organisations such as Jason Roberts Foundation and United Borders, faith groups, artists, authors and individuals. Collaborations also include Willesden Seventh-day Adventist Church, Willesden New Testament Church, Nine Health & Fitness and Rise Together Alliance.

I engage with local MPs and councillors on community matters. Serene One’s work is independent and non-political, guided by community needs, mutual respect and shared purpose.

Let’s Discuss
Your Requirements.

Tell me what you would like to achieve, who the work is for and any relevant date. You can enquire about one part of a project or a wider piece of work. A few words are enough to begin.

  1. Fill in this short form.
  2. Select “Prepare My Enquiry”.
  3. Press Send in your email app.

I consider each enquiry individually, taking account of the work requested, suitability and my availability. I may not be able to accept every request. If we agree to proceed, I will provide a written agreement covering the scope, fee, arrangements, payment terms and any initial deposit. Both parties must accept it before work begins. Sending an enquiry does not confirm a booking.

I’ll respond as soon as I’m available. Messages may not be read immediately, and replies may take longer when I’m away.

Prefer to speak? WhatsApp me first or text 07460 727412 so we can arrange a call.

Please share only brief enquiry details, without sensitive records or another person’s private information. Read the Privacy Notice and Safeguarding & Service Boundaries. The form prepares an email for you to send.

For example, what you would like to arrange or find out.

Your answers will open in a prepared email. Press Send in your email app to submit your enquiry.

If we agree to proceed, the scope, fee, payment terms and any initial deposit will be set out in a written agreement accepted by both parties before work begins. Sending an enquiry does not guarantee acceptance.

  1. Fill in the form.
  2. Select “Prepare My Enquiry”.
  3. Your email app opens. Press Send there.

This is an enquiry. No payment is taken through this form.

Please share only brief enquiry details, without sensitive records or another person’s private information. Read the Privacy Notice and Safeguarding & Service Boundaries. The form prepares an email for you to send.

Privacy & Your Information

Privacy Notice.

Serene One Ltd is responsible for the personal information you provide when contacting Diane about Serene One services or community activities. Registered office: 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX. Registered in England and Wales, company number 14823510. For privacy questions or requests, contact sereneone855@gmail.com.

Information and purposes

Enquiries may include your name, contact details, organisation, preferred dates and the brief details you choose to share. This information is used to respond, discuss arrangements and manage any agreed engagement. Please provide only what is needed for your enquiry.

How the forms work

These forms prepare a message in your email app. They do not submit your details to a Serene One website database. Diane receives the message only when you send it. If you use WhatsApp, text or another email provider, that provider also handles the message under its own privacy arrangements.

Basis for using information

Information needed to discuss or deliver a service you request is used to take steps towards, or perform, an agreement with you. General community enquiries are handled for the legitimate interest of responding and organising relevant activities, with regard to your rights. Mailing-list updates are optional and based on your consent; an enquiry does not automatically subscribe you.

Sensitive information and sharing

Please do not include medical records, detailed health information, financial documents, identification documents or information about another person in an initial enquiry. Any need for sensitive information or a referral should be discussed separately, including the purpose, appropriate legal basis and how it will be handled. Necessary information may need to be shared with relevant authorities where there is a legal obligation or a lawful safeguarding reason.

Retention

Enquiry information is kept only for as long as needed to respond and resolve the enquiry. Records of an agreed engagement may be kept while the work is ongoing and afterwards where needed for accounting, legal obligations or resolving a dispute. Mailing-list details are kept while you remain subscribed; limited records may be retained to respect an unsubscribe request. Retention depends on the purpose and applicable obligations. You may ask Diane about the records relating to you.

Your rights and concerns

Depending on the circumstances, you can request access, correction, deletion or restriction, object to certain uses, or request portability. You can withdraw mailing-list consent at any time by emailing Diane. These rights are subject to applicable legal conditions. Please raise privacy concerns with Diane; you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office ↗.

Website technology and external links

The Serene One page code does not use advertising cookies, analytics scripts or browser storage to track visitors. The hosting platform may process technical data to deliver and secure the website; its own privacy information applies to that processing. Links to other websites open services with their own privacy policies.

Respect · Safety · Clear Boundaries

Safeguarding & Service Boundaries.

Serene One offers community connection, information, signposting and respectful facilitated services shaped by lived experience. Diane is not a qualified counsellor or therapist. These services do not replace medical care, professional counselling, legal advice or statutory safeguarding services.

Raising a concern

If you have a concern about safety or conduct connected with a Serene One activity, contact Diane at sereneone855@gmail.com or text 07460 727412. Give your name, a safe way to reply and a brief description. Avoid sending detailed sensitive records in an initial message. Messages are not monitored continuously.

Immediate or urgent risks

If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. For concerns about abuse or neglect, contact the relevant local council’s adult safeguarding or children’s services team directly. Do not wait for a response from Serene One where urgent action is needed.

Privacy and appropriate action

Information should be handled respectfully. Absolute confidentiality cannot be promised where information must lawfully be shared to protect someone or meet a legal obligation. A concern may need to be referred to the appropriate authority; Serene One is not an investigation or emergency response service.

Activities and participation

For activities involving children or adults at risk, responsibilities, supervision and safeguarding arrangements must be agreed with the relevant organiser or partner before participation. An enquiry or website booking request does not confirm that a particular activity is suitable or available.
